Sandbagging moved into high gear on Monday across the area with massive amounts of clay, sand and sandbags being moved around the community. In Fargo trucks loaded with sandbags were given lights-and-siren escorts by police cars from Sandbag Central to the southside of town. Scores of students from Shanley and Fargo South high schools built dikes at homes along River Shore Drive.
Oakport Towship north of Moorhead is in a more unique situation. Because of the way the houses are spread out and the varied elevations each individual home needs its own ring dike.
